About The Shop

Katy & Ryan moved from Cambridgeshire in 2008 to enjoy a laidback, beach lifestyle. They started their Cornish life over in Porth both working at the Watergate Bay Hotel, where Katy ran the bar and restaurant. In between then and now they’ve moved around a little, at one stage living at the Lewinick lodge where Katy was the venue manager. Then came a short stint back in Cambridgeshire but they couldn’t resist the Cornish charm and this is when they moved to Cubert with their eldest daughter.

Coincidentally the chip shop came up for sale and although Katy was pregnant, not the ideal position for starting a new business, they knew they didn’t want to miss out on such an opportunity on their doorstep. For Katy, having worked in a chip shop from 14 and all the way through school and university, it felt like fate. And although Ryan is a Plasterer by trade, he shared the love for fish & chips and having always worked with Katy, why stop now?

They try to involve their now 6 year old and 3 year old as much as possible, filling the drinks fridge, stamping their logo on the boxes and even taking the odd telephone order from locals they know in the village.
